3D Laser PortionThe first step to creating my 3 Dimensional Laser project was coming up with a model to base my final project on. The two options I had were creating something from scratch, which I could do in a few different ways, or find a model online. I chose to create it by myself in cad, Since I wasn't sure how many people designed snowboard wall mounts for a laser cutter.

The next step was importing it into illustrator. this was a challenge because illustrator did not like keeping the pieces the same shape as the identical other pieces, which later caused problems with the pieces fitting together. After using the Image Trace --> "black and white logo" setting, and making the lines a little more clear, I designed in some etched decorations, and was ready to print.

Next was setting up the laser cutter. After clicking print in Illustrator, (Then setup --> preferences in the print menu, you are able to set thickness of material, type of material, and more.

Final Product: (I still need to hang it on the wall)
Laser Notebook
The specifications required us to create a front with cutout sections and etched sections, while the back only needed to have etched patterns. The majority of this project is extremely similar to the 3D Laser project, with the only real differences being in the setup for the laser. I will skip the repetitive steps for simplicity.
Final Product:
Laser Water bottle
I was not able to finish this, and do not have access to illustrator so I can get a picture of my design. However, I still can do directions.
Finished Product: (I will update this page and resubmit if that is an option later, The "oops" is just a placeholder.)
Summary:
This unit taught me a lot about making useful, real-life pieces that would have been a lot more difficult for a different piece of machinery. The biggest challenge was definitely sizing an external image to fit nicely together to the point where some joints were even friction fit. even though I wasn't done completely with the water bottle design, I still learned a lot about how laser cutters are more versatile than 2 dimensional pieces from it.
